Life Like Dust

I have so much on my mind this morning. There is so much going on in the news. One of the big stories today, is how many celebrities have passed away already this year. Two more yesterday. These people are now in eternity. Their earthly accomplishments meaningless in light of what they are currently facing. My heart is sad for their friends, families and many fans. Partly for their personal loss, but mostly for their spiritual loss. RIP seems to be the natural response when we hear of someone’s passing.

As Christians do we stop to think about what that really means? For someone without Christ, there is no resting in peace.

As I ponder this I think about how focused we are on the here and now. We esteem people that don’t acknowledge God, don’t live for Him. These people have no hope outside of their own accomplishments and riches. Why are we so influenced by people like this?

My focus is redirected to the Lord. I want my children to see me looking to Him. I want them to worship Jesus as their hero, not grasp for empty dreams, looking to people who are more lost than found.

Our prayer should be that we are able to clearly see this world in light of eternity.  That we are able to focus our eyes heavenward and touch peoples lives with that focus.

Mark 8:34-36 “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

“Lord, Use me and my children today for your glory. May we not forfeit one opportunity you present us with today.- Amen”
